Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist - Laboratory
Position Description:
Performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease: conducts chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood, urine and spinal fluid, to determine presence of normal and abnormal components. Studies blood cells, their numbers and morphology, using microscopic technique. Performs blood group, type and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes. Analyzes test results and enters findings in computer.
Candidates with a high school diploma require 15 years of clinical lab experience.
Candidates with an Associates degree require at least 2 years of clinical lab experience
Candidates with a Bachelor's degree have no minimum requirement, but clinical lab experience preferred.
Certification is required with less than 5 years of lab experience.
●One of the following certifications is required: MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), MT (AAB), CLS (NCA), MT (HEW), CLT (NCA), MLT (ASCP) or MLS (AMT).
●Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
●Must be proficient in basic computer skills, including Windows.
●Knowledge of chemistry, blood bank, and microbiology modules preferred.
